Celebrating Earth Day as a Pack

As Beauceron continues to grow, serving more than 800 customers across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Africa, we’ve been working hard on being as efficient and environmentally friendly as we can.

Turbo-charging our cloud performance

Over the past 12 months, our technology team has been hard at work delivering changes that have improved the performance of our platform for all of customers with increased speed, resiliency and we also reduced our cloud computing footprint by nearly one-third on the processing side. This change has helped reduce our carbon footprint by nearly one metric ton per year of emissions. As we continue to grow rapidly, these changes will yield even more carbon savings over the coming years.

Embracing hybrid and remote work

As part of our move to our new home at 120 Carleton Street, we made the decision to reduce our office space footprint by half, recognizing most of our Fredericton-area employees only used the office some of the time. With the switch to our fantastic new space, we also adopted a SaaS solution for booking desks, or office hoteling as it’s also known as.

With 30 employees in the Greater Fredericton area, this move towards long-term hybrid and full remote work has reduced our carbon emissions as a pack by as much as one-third, or about 45.54 metric tons of CO2.

Smart power management at the Pack House

We’re also making investments with our landlord into energy efficiency at the Pack House. Previous investments include high-efficiency central air conditioning and heating, supplementary heat pump and the deployment of some smart thermostats for baseboard heating.

We’ll be working to move all baseboard heater thermostats to seven-day programmable thermostats soon. Our aim is to reduce our monthly power consumption by up to 25% by improving how we manage the various heating systems and schedules.
